The Last Supper Casket
The Last Supper Casket combines the timeless elegance of a traditional solid timber casket with the addition of a beautiful work of art. Craftsmen have created the image of the Last Supper using a technique known as marquetry. This involves the use of hundreds of pieces of timber of varying types meticulously shaped to interlock perfectly to create the image. The beauty, depth and warmth in the resulting picture is rarely achieved by other art forms. Internally the casket is trimmed in luxurious white satin to complete this truly high quality casket. To enquire further about this beautiful casket, please contact your preferred funeral director. Supplied by Australian Casket Company Pty Ltd.

Travels with Grandma
Travels with Grandma is a remarkable book written and illustrated by 15 year old Toby Richards with assistance from his 63 year old Grandma, Brenda Richards. Their travels over six years have taken them all over Australia and overseas to places as far flung as Europe and South East Asia. Most remarkable is that Toby, who has dyslexia, has overcome his early learning difficulties with the written word to produce a book of his travels. Travels with Grandma has greatly enhanced his general knowledge as well as his self-confidence. Ms Richards, a social worker with a quarter of a century's experience in the Children's Court, self-published the book and describes it as a great read for 'school kids, travellers and the general reader' and also 'a celebration of the unique bond between grandmother and grandson.' Travels with Grandma retails for $14.95 and is available in all good book stores.

A Gift of Life
At the funeral of a loved one, many families request that an In Memoriam donation be made in lieu of floral tributes. The Children's Hospital at Westmead has made this meaningful gesture as uncomplicated as possible by providing a special Memorial Donation envelope. All donations are tax-deductible and a condolence letter from the Hospital acknowledging gifts from family and friends, is sent to the bereaved family. There can be no better way to remember those who have died than by giving one of the greatest gifts of all - improved health and a better quality of life to sick children. Please ask your Funeral Director to have these envelopes available, or telephone Carol O'Carroll in the Fundraising Department of The Children's Hospital at Westmead on 9845 3463.

Waverley Cemetery
Waverley Cemetery and its Volunteer Friends of Waverley Group are currently undertaking a monument assessment for historical significance for each and every memorial and headstone. The cemetery, which covers 16 hectares and has some 50,000 graves and ash locations with over 200,000 interments to date, is a treasure trove of Sydney's and Australia's history. Some of our most significant Australians like J F Archibald (the instigator of the annual portrait prize), Henry Lawson, Dorothea Mackellar - just two of our best known writers and poets, sports stars and actors have all been laid to rest in this very special cemetery by the sea. Last year the Royal Aeronautical Society (Aust) sponsored the restoration and maintenance of the grave of Lawrence Hargrave our pioneering Aviator and father of powered flight. A wonderful way to discover all that this amazing cemetery has to offer are the Twilight Tours. The Cemetery Management are giving special guided tours on Wednesday evenings through to October. Take a walk through history and visit the resting places of the people who helped shaped this country and hear tales from the graves of the not so famous. Bookings are essential and numbers are limited. For more information, dates and prices: phone (02) 9665 4938.

ETERNAL IMAGE PHOTOGRAPHY
Ever considered photography at a funeral? Eternal Image Photography offers a photographic service as an addition to normal funeral arrangements. This type of service is uncommon, photography being associated primarily with social events such as weddings and birthdays. We know from archaeo-logical findings that throughout history man has visually depicted all aspects of life including funerals. There is no disputing the fact that photographs play a vital and important role in the display of family history with group shots and portraits becoming valuable records. Often grieving family and friends cannot remember who was present at a poignant moment in family history. As time goes by and the feeling of overwhelming loss diminishes, the beautiful images become wonderful reminders of a highly significant occasion. Distant friends and loved ones, who were unable to attend, can be sent copies to assist them in saying goodbye. Over time, pictorial images can help in the mourning process and a photo record keeps the memories alive.
