When you next browse the Internet,
why not hone in on sites providing information on services and
books that might be of interest to someone you know.
How To Write A Eulogy
www.Eulogies@Funerals-Online.com
Many of us are faced with this task when we are highly emotional
and
perhaps least able to put our best foot forward. Why not be prepared
and take a look at this publication? Although its accessed
through a Florida-based company, this assignment is the same world
wide. The hard copy, paper back or an online version can be ordered
from as little as $US8.
Dancing
On The Moon
http://www.dancingonthemoon.org/
If you believe the banner head, this site and the book it promotes,
is popular with SIDS organisations. Dealing with children and
death, this is a relatively recent site (copyright 2001, post
the Terrorist Attack) about the tale of a five year olds
experience when her baby brother dies. The authors observation
of her daughter forms the basis for the story.
In Need?
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/bid/
To assist a friend or family member, this site may be helpful.
Complete online essays are presented which deal with controversial
end-of-life issues. Personal stories detail cases such as a victim
of HIV, the wife of a man who was in an extended coma, and the
spouse who now crusades for the rights of the terminally ill.
Grief and Bereavement
http://www.grief.org.au/
The Centre for Grief Education is an independent, not for profit
organisation which opened in January 1996 to provide, through
education and training, optimum support for all bereaved people
to assist in their recovery and prevent chronic illness and ill
health. The Centre is a state-wide service based at McCulloch
House, Monash Medical Centre. As the largest provider of grief
and bereavement training programs throughout Australia, it provides
many helpful programs from public seminars to Graduate Diplomas
in Child and Adolescent Grief Counselling. Its Counselling Service
is available to bereaved people 16 years and over. The online
Grief Support page may be of assistance. Suitable videos, books
and some great links can also be accessed. Take a look if you
are, or have a friend, in need.
Doves of Peace (WA)
http://www.doves.com.au/
Inevitably, when researching sites for this article, we came across
a number referring to September 11, 2001. This particular site
appealed to us with its images of the pre-bird release shots for
the US Tragedy Dedication USA Embassy in Perth, 23 September 2001.
Prices for hiring doves for funerals (or weddings) are thoroughly
detailed here, as well as links to equally interesting companies
on the East Coast who also release white doves for special occasions.
However, be aware that there are restrictions related to the weather
and time of day. These are all clearly addressed in the FAQ link.
Ex-Servicemen and Women (VIC)
http://www.rslvic.com.au/anzac/Welfare/funeral.htm
Here you will find particulars for the formal rituals for Ex-Servicemen
and Women who served their country during war or peacetime. Matters
pertaining specifically to the Victorian Branch include Anzac
House, History, Education, a Notice Board, and the Contacts page
could be of great interest to many. Examples of links are:
Australian War Graves in South Africa,
Gulf War Veterans Nominal Roll,
Korea Veterans (Tasmania)
together with many others which could be important to your family.
