The Seniors Portal is designed for ‘over 50s’ as a source of information from the Fedral Government. The website provides a single point of access to Government and non-Government information and services for older Australians.

As well as access to information about health, finances, work, lifestyle and care for people over 50, there are a range of interactive features. You can find events form around the country, ask questions on the Q&A forum, add your story to Living History and compete in the Seniors Portal Challenge.

Do you ever feel like the concept of a healthy meal is beyond your abilities? It involves planning, shopping, chopping, cooking, putting it on a plate and then eating it. And you are meant to do it three times a day.

When you are hungry and you don't feel like cooking, it sometimes becomes hard to remember that chocolate is not a meal.

Creating quick, healthy and tasty meals is often easier than you think. Some simple advice may give you new ideas about the best food to eat. The advice you want may be no further away than your computer.

The new topic on the Seniors Portal Q&A is ‘Nutrition for a Happy, Healthy Life’. Here you can ask all those questions you have about what and when you should be eating. Experts will be available to advise you on issues about any nutritional issues and help you create the basis of a healthy lifestyle with good nutrution. You might like tips on how to plan a menu or grocery shopping or what to eat if you have health concerns or a chronic condition.

The panel consists of experts from Nutrition Australia and the Department of Health and Ageing. They are available to answer any questions you have about healthy eating for older Australians. You may ask questions about eating, shopping, preparing and storing food. Or any other concern you may have about maintaining your health with appropriate nutrition.
