For Peace of Mind: Volume 8 - Possibilities…

For Peace of Mind

coverI don’t know about you but I have been freezing this winter, it makes me think that if I’m cold and we have central heating how cold must it be for so many others… really makes you think doesn’t it. We packed up all our spare blankets and took them to St Vincent, I had rung earlier to ensure they would be used and I was assured they would be. It may only be a small thing but if everyone did something for there fellow man we probably wouldn’t be in half as much trouble as we are now. It’s an interesting way to start this issue off, sorry but, I ask you to spare a thought for those who are not as well off. The Winter is a big and silent killer. In this issue we cover a wide range of topics from influenza, a deadly killer!! to sending you’re Cremains into Space, yep- beam me up, Scotty. What about the article on Kids staying home longer!! (I’m reading that one) and Symbolisms, what they actually mean. In addition we have all the regulars, Counselling - The Guilt Factor, The Art of Remembering, Enviroboards, plus religion, Financial Planning and so much more.

Thank you for continuing to read Peace of Mind and helping us to supply the information contained within its pages. A lot of what we write about is hard to find and from the letters and emails we receive we know we are doing something right.

Remember, you can never be too young nor too old to plan ahead and have some Peace of Mind.

From the Editor

Since I began working in the funeral industry some years ago, I have been questioned by all sorts of people curious about my involvement. For most their questioning is based on a ghoulish fascination. The intrigue is divided between; why would anyone want to work in the industry and wanting, but not really wanting, to know the details. The reality is that this taboo
subject is not so taboo any more. The continued growth of ‘For Peace of Mind’ is testament alone to that fact. It is ok now to be curious. It is ok now to want to find out more. It is ok to explore what is possible.

Innovation is not a word you would think of attaching to the funeral industry, but new products and ideas continue to try and enter the market almost daily; from internet and technology based ideas through to memorial products and new approaches to the service itself. We explore some of these in the current issue. The continued investment by many of those established players in the industry is not just a show of faith, but a reflection of the growing expectations of the community. The level of service being demanded is increasing through the greater awareness of the possibilities open to us.

You look at our Cemetery in Review in this issue and you see an example of how all these facets of change are coming to fruition. There is of course more to this publication than the funeral industry. It’s about planning, enjoying and understanding quality of life. If you have any areas you would like covered in future editions, I welcome the feedback.

I hope you enjoy the read.JM

Funeral Insurance
Finding someone else’s important documents can be a difficult and time consuming task, so record the location of important documents, such as your will, powers of attorney, property titles, birth/adoption/death/marriage/ migration certificates, banking and financial documents, burial plot, funeral bond plan, car registration, funeral insurance policies, passport and driver’s licence. Ideally, keep these documents in the one location. If your documents and valuables are stored in a safe-deposit box, provide information about the location of that box.
