Funeral Notices Online
Meg Tsiamis is the Managing Director of Obits Pty Ltd, formed in the later part of 2005 to develop and operate Obits.com.au. “What astounded me is the fact that in a country, as big and wide as Australia, there is no one access point for the general public to look up a death, funeral or obituary notice from the comfort of their own keyboard.
“In today's Internet orientated Australian population, with an exponential growth in broadband connections, people expect to answer most of their enquiries online. To this end Obits.com.au has set out to satisfy a perceived need in the marketplace and by so doing create an all Australian website.
Meg continues, “The aim of Obits.com.au is simple. Anyone with Internet access will be able to go to the site and enter a free search for the death, funeral and obituary details for any recently deceased person.”
This new website means you don't have to guess which paper to look in for funeral details; the information is now recorded in one place. Your funeral director will be able to make the arrangements for you in the same way you would a newspaper notice. The site also has links to the relevant funeral home, cemetery / crematoria and florist if you want to send flowers to the family.
Notices remain in the main search for 14 days, and then they are moved to the archive section, where they can be searched.
